you want tips?

get a reliable win-machine and optimise it, thats the best you can do...

jeeese, why make it more complicated if there is a working and stable system?

Good advice!

Presonally, I do love Linux and use it more than Windows, but I wouldn't trust a Linux system for doing live gigs!

There is an option for people who want to try Linux however and it's quite safe. Ubuntu and Linux Mint do have Windows installers which set up a small Linux system which dual boots on startup. You install it like any other Windows program, and if you experience problems, you can remove it like any other program too. Linux has made massive improvements in the last few years, but a sound system that is reliable, and stable enough to run DJ programs is, unfortuantely, a long way off yet.

AS much as I'd love a version of Cross to try on Linux, I'll always use my Windows set-up to play live gigs.

I'm like you Daniel - an enthusiastic amateur!

The mazing thing about Linux is just what you mentioned, individuals. It's run by numerous people, giving their time for free in most cases, to create something good for other people.

Also, to tailor a version of Linux for one single purpose. For instance there are versions designed for music production, graphics production...and so on.

There's no reason why that there can't be a special version of Linux designed purely for DJ's...
