MIDI Preferences (how to use the SHIFT key)

Postby tutu13 on 05 Jun 2019, 21:54

salut,

Merci

Hi,

I assigned the [Ch1 Note 0x9] key of my MIDI controller
to the command "Locator 5 Control"

But I do not know how to assign
the key combination "SHIFT + [Ch1 Note 0x9]"
to the command "Locator 5 Clear"

how do we do it already in Cross 3.4.3?

Thank you

I suppose you're editing the text file?

Have you tried using the Cross MIDI editor instead?

you can also do it using MIDI learn but you need 3 arms or your mouth and a pencil.

Go to the MIDI learn section and select the controller and the command for locator clear.

The window to set it up should appear.

Put a pencil or whatever you are using on your mouth with the eraser part on the outside.

Position the cursor on your screen to accept the command.

Press and hold the Shift button on your controller(1 hand)

Press and hold the button that you want to use for the command on your controller.(2nd hand)

While pressing and holding press and holding the previous 2 buttons. Use the pencil in your mouth to click the mouse (that was already positioned to accept the command).

It takes a little bit of practice but it works. it allows you to edit the MIDI file to use shift commands without using a text editor.

"the MIDI learn section" is MIDI Preferences,
or is it somewhere else?

That is the correct section.

Once you press and hold the two buttons on the controller, you will see the command note and channel displayed.

Without letting go of either buttons on the controller, then the "OK" button on the screen must be pressed using the mouse and the command will be accepted.

Edit: Your controller must be capable of accepting a shifted command for the specified button.

Thank you Ronald, today is better day and I get there. But it's true that the command is accepted once in three. (MixVibes Vfx Control)
