Cross Frequently Crashing

Postby brandoncrimmins on 10 May 2018, 05:53

Hello, and thanks ahead of time for your help.

I am experiencing some very frequent crashing in Cross.

2011 13in Macbook Pro
OS X Yosemite 10.10.5
Cross 3.3.11 and 3.4.3 (Its happening in both)
U46MK2
Stanton ST-150's
Shure Whitelabel

Symptoms: Application crashes during a multitude of activites. It crashed when I have both decks playing. It crashes during calibration attempts. Anything that seems to be resource intensive seems to crash it.

Recent Changes: Cross had been working excellent until I took my needles, U46MK2, and Mac to a friends house. After hooking back up at home it is continuously crashing.

I had this issue with Cross in the past unfortunately, I never did fix the issue. I created an entire new user profile and reinstalled Cross and didnt have the issue again until yesterday.

Attached is the latest crash report in a .txt file.

Thanks again.

You could try deleting the mixvibes.settings file in the user profile. This basically is the same as creating a new user profile for Cross.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

I am solved for now. Deleting mixvibes.settings didn't fix the issue. Part of the issue is the song wouldn't start at the beginning again. Every time I would que it in it would just start back where it left off instead of starting the song over. And then the crashes on top of it.

So today I created a new user profile and reinstalled 3.4.3 and it was still crashing. So I started messing with things and decided to turn everything down and set the setting on the U46 to Phono instead of line. Inside of my calibration box popped up a square instead of a circle, so I switched it back to line on the U46 and up pops the circle. Songs are starting at the beginning again and calibration doesn't crash the app.

I have no clue why this fixed it but I pray it doesn't happen during a gig. Thanks for the response!

It ended up crashing again. I went back to 2.6 and that crashed too. I sucked it up and went and bought a SSD and reinstalled my OS and Cross 3.4.3 and everything is working beautifully. Hope this is the end of my issues.

I hope this is solved as you do.

Just for the record in case it happens again.. Though not to sure but there might be a rights issue. Some of the cuepoint./locator info is part of the collection file. Whereas the details are in the track analysis file. Just maybe this folder didn't have full access rights no more.

Not fully sure how Apple works, but for Windows when copying Cross medium setting a readonly attribute is default behaviour.
