Using multiple cameras in Remix - problems

Postby AndyPetrovitch on 06 May 2018, 18:56

Hello folks,

Right now I'm using remix video with a windows 10 machine. Aside from some tiny hiccups here and there, it's worked well, with lots of satisfied clients (I do visuals for a lot of cover and tribute bands in the NY area).

My only problem is when I try to use multiple logitech webcams. Whenever I connect more than one camera, the generators list only list one; strangely enough, it will also list my built in laptop webcam.

Anyone have any advice? I have a gig coming soon where the client really wants multiple camera angles and I'd hate to let them down.

Hi Andy,

Sorry you are still dealing with this webcam issue in Remixvideo. I have asked the development team if anyone has had experience using multiple webcams but haven't heard back.

I was able to do a bit of research and found these two (somewhat old) topics: https://cycling74.com/forums/multiple-3-or-more-usb-logitech-webcams-how-it-works
https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/using-2-or-more-logitech-c920s-or-c930es-together-successfully.26707/

It seems that there could potentially be issues if you are using more than one webcam connected to the same USB bus (typically if there are 2 usb ports next to each other on one side of a laptop these will be connected to the same bus). There might also be an issue with the logitech webcam software, one person suggested uninstalling all software but keep the drivers installed.

I will keep you updated if the development team gets back to me on this with any important info.

Thanks for the reply!

I was thinking of a workaround - can I maybe run a program/app like manycam or xsplit as a plug in in remix?

If the issue concerns the USB bus limitations - what's the best, least expensive way around this?
