Problem with smart playlist

Postby Will ZEgal on 11 Apr 2018, 20:54

Hi,

I'm doing a huge housework and some organization in my collection.

Many tracks lack details in tags.

To help me, I've done a smart collection with this :
- matching ALL the criterias
- "year" is "not defined"
- "Genre" (or "style") is not "Celtic" (I'll sort them later)
- Duration is more than 0 H 0 mn 15 s (to exclude all the samples)

Sorry if the terms are not precise : I work with a French version of Cross DJ.

But it doesn't work. All my samples shorter than 15 s remain in the list and all Celtic tagged song too.

And when the "automatically update" is checked, tracks sometime disappear as they should do when I enter a year and sometimes don't. I have to edit the smart liste and then uncheck and check again the box. It doesn't change anything concerning Duration and Genre.

Thanks for helping.

'Not defined' can be a tricky choice. There is a difference in an empty field and a field filled with a value that may not be visible.

Genre is a complicated field. It holds both values that are default tag fields (standardized values) as user defined values. You may want to verify (or modify) or your celtic fields by selecting all these tracks and via Info set them all to the list value (so not type it).

For duration you might try using Range as criterium. Also be aware that the duration is shown rounded. So all tracks of 15.0000001 sec and longer will be selected.
