Help with recording mix from turntables to computer

Hello all,

I'm struggling to record a mix from my turntables to my laptop via the Cross LE Mixvibes software.

I am a relative newbie so please excuse my ignorance on some things!

I have the following set-up:

- 2 Numark TT250 USB turntables,
- Allen & Heath Xone 23C mixer,
- Unpowered speakers connected to an amp

In order for the turntables to work with the amp, I have to connect them to the mixer via the Line input (I'm assuming the turntables have built-in pre-amps and so can't go in the Phono input).

When recording a mix through the Cross LE software, I'm setting up the preferences as per the link below:

http://www.allen-heath.com/media/Xone23C-Quick-Start-Guide_1.pdf

The problem is when I try and record the mix, one turntable can be seen by the software but when I move the Cross fader, I get a lot of reverberation (guessing because it's over-amplified).

My question is: what set-up in the preferences of the Cross LE software do I need to record my mix successfully?

Any help anyone can provide is much appreciated, and let me know if you need more info to answer the question!

Many thanks,

Sam

For recording the Inputs of Audio tab are used.
In recording tab you set which 'channels' are being recorded.

The volume level as set in Audio tab for the input should be to the 'line level'. Meaning that the volume should be more or less the same as when playing an analysed track from within Cross.

And please be aware that in a setup with a mixer you usually have the mixer create the mix. In this case you have to route the Main of yourmixer to Cross to be recorded via the Aux input of Cross in Audio tab.

Maybe this helps you somewhat. IF not yet there, just ask/tell and we'll get you there.
