Headphone doesn't work in Cross DJ LE for Mac

Postby Esther on 23 Apr 2017, 15:48

My headphone doesn't work. After searching the internet for hours and hours and watching tutorials with advice to set my presets otherwise in preferences->audio but than finding out that the standards they put it on are not visable in my presets. Then I found a topic that states that the headphone doesn't work in the free version. So I tought that was it; I need to upgrade. However I have 'Cross DJ LE' and I think that has the same functions as the paid version of Cross DJ (and is not the same as Cross DJ Free). Does anyone now that?

Can someone please tell me how I can make my headphone work? After reading all the topics about this (unfortunately there are more people like me with this problem I have noticed..)

It's a pretty common issue for users who start with digital DJing. Once you're used to the basics of audio routing and the options provided by both Win as Mac you'll be on your way... As long as you have 2 stereo outputs Cross will be able to use them.

It does however depend on the controller the software was bundled with if you're allowed to use the latest version or that 2.6 is the latest version you're allowed to use.

If the other suggestions (maybe also check out the manual) don't work you could try the Cross Demo version. This has all features in the current version.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Thank you. I've been searching and trying in this panel before and after your reaction again. But in my audio bevices I don't see 'headphine'. I can only choose between build-in output, build-in input, USB sound device in and USB soud device out. I've tested this and it's only the difference between sound from my computer and sound from my boxes. I guess for the headphone there must be some option to select that, but I don't see it anywhere.

 info
you will need two set of stereo sound card out puts ,,
one for main out ,,too your sound system
second set to use for headphones or pre fade listening ,
asked for info on your computer ie sound card ,,
couple of ways to get this accomplished ,,
the best way is to have a 4 channel sc (two set of stero out puts)and use this for your DJ softwae,,
one option is to purches such a card ,
second option is if your controller ..ie info that was needed .has such a card set up to use
second alternative option is if your computers sc is a multi channel sc then you can use the outputs from that too obtain the desired routing ,
last option is to purches a reletively cheap usb secound card to use by the aggreat sc set up mentioned in the web link ,
soo lacking info nessary too tell you how to proceed ,,time for some answers and nessary info to answer your questions to help you

As Daniel mentions.. info on what you have is essential.

General setup:
Select your soundcard driver in Audio tab of preferences
routing mode in Audio tab of preferences = Dual Stereo
Then fill the 2 top output boxes in the Audio tab
If you canot select 2 different outputs you need to create an aggregate soundcard (see link of Daniel)

use:
click a headphone button on a deck to enable/disable deck audio toward headphone (Cue) output. The audio is now 'send' to the knob fader at the right top called 'mix'. When fully left it's Cue volume only. When Fully right it's Main output only.
Then it's send to Cue knobfader for the volume of the Cue.

To exclusive have audio to headphone you need the Cross fader to be towards the opposite deck. Else the deck will also play to the Main output.
