Cross 1.7 is from the Win XP years.

Though I do think it still is the best user interface layout, there have been a lot of changes.

The current version was totally rewritten to meet current standards and opportunities. Especially if you use W8 or later you have to use a current version as the use of drivers has been changed by Microsoft.

Be aware that the collection is not backwards compatible between versions 3.x and 1.x.
