UMIX-44 input issue (timecode not detected)

Postby tekinico on 27 Apr 2016, 14:09

Hi all,

I recently re installed my computer (Windows 7 x64) and had to reinstall all my setup :( :

UMIX-44 soundcard
DVS7 (i also tried Cross demo)

After installing the soundcard driver, i can see in my windows sound card panel that i have one new Speaker named "2-MixVibes U-MIX44" and one new "Recording" input named "Line 2 Mixvibes U-MIX44".

So all seems correct, i can even test the output of the soundcard using the windows test button --> sound is playing in my mixer on both channels and the lights of the soundcard are glowing !

Then i start DV7 or Cross, and i try to configure the audio setup to "External Mixer" it doesnt complain. Then i try to calibrate my turntables by playing the timecode vinyl and there nothing hapens. The signal is always at 0 %. (i tested my turntables and they work alright, so the problem does not come from them). i tried to increase the level of the line input inthe sound card panel but nothing works. And the leds of the soundcard dont glow at all (like nothing is being transmitted? )

Do you have any idea of a setting or anything that i might have not done properly ? I am running out of ideas and banging my head againts the walls here.....

Thanks a lot for your help,

Nico.

I'm not to knowledgeable on this setup, but maybe can give you some direction to check.

- Have you set the sc and tt to the same level (both phono or both line).
- Is the monitoring of the input muted.

- Normally you best use the same USB port each time. However if something installed not right changing the usb port may resolve it.

- Have you tried reinstalling the driver (not sure if the sc has a driver or is class compliant)

Hi,

Thanks for your answer.

I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers, changed the input level from min to max, changed the usb port with and without reinstalling the drivers.

I dont know what the sc and tt levels are ?

one more thing : whenever i configure Cross properly, when i try to load a track on any deck, i get a "Can't load track: Check your audio setting" error. Do you know if i can get access to more detailed logs ? maybe that would help pointing the problem ?

I'm starting to think that my soundcard input is not working but under windows, the output are working properly so .... dont know what to think

Tt= turntable
sc= soundcard

I don't know the exact sound card, let alone your tt. You should however make sure that the output of your tt is either Phono or Line.
Your sound card requires the same level. Be sure to not send Line output to Phono input as this could detroy your phono input port.

The message indicates no (working) soundcard is/can be selected; whereas you also report sound out is working...

You may want to try to install a 'virtual' soundcard. Download ASIO4ALL from asio4all.com.
Install. After this start Cross. Select ASIO4ALL as sound card. Edit settings of the sound card to have the U-Mix44 selected in ASIO4ALL.

BTW DVS Ultimate is discontinued software for quite some years, so not to many users have it no more. This is also why I suggest to get the sc working in Cross LE.

Please let's know which Cross LE version you're using (you can check download section at the right to see if you have the latest).

Hi,

i have 2 Technics SL 1210 turntables. I can't choose the output type of the signal.

My Cross demo version is 3.0.1 and Cross DJ LE is 2.6.0.

The behavior is the same with both : the sc is detected by the software and i can configure the input/output alright :

https://snag.gy/s4OFdX.jpg

Then, even if i dont configure any Vinyl/CD controllers, i cannot drag n drop music to the Cross decks and play them : i think that's the first of my problems right ?

So then i continue the configuration :

https://snag.gy/ROqWhn.jpg

but the calibration never works : whatever gain i set from min to max, the signal's always to 0%.

I tried all of this using ASIO4ALL drivers, same configuration with ASIO soundcard but exact same result. There must be something wrong somewhere ....

thanks a lot for your help !

Could you try with the current Cross Demo version (button on top of page). Just to exclude any known issues, though I don't think there are for this.

Please also check if there's no other application using the U-Mix (like windows).

And maybe the obvious... have you muted the monitoring of the inputs in the control panel of the U-Mix.

Have you tried using normal vinyl to play via the decks?

Hi again,

I have downloaded Cross Demo 3.3.11 and tried again : now i can load a track on the deck without an error. But it wont play and the timecode calibration still shows 0%.

I verified soundcard levels : they are not muted and at maximum for input.

I have tested the turntables by themselves with a real vinyl and they work alright.

I read Cross manual, and i even tried to play a vinyl from the tt to see if i could get its ouput go through the soundcard and be played through the sc output : like bypassing Cross. but that didnt work either. Seems like the input is not "working properly"

based on all i've tried, there must be an issue with the drivers somewhere but i tried uninstall/reinstall and still nothing.

i have a standard Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. I have tried this setup with both U46DJ and U-Mix44 soundcards as i bought the later thinking it was my old U46DJ that failed me....

now i have 2 soundcards and no sound :(

anything i could look at regarding drivers
