Mixlr, CrossDJ & U-Mix Control Pro... Problem

PostPosted: 30 Dec 2012, 20:06

Hi there everyone. I have been trying to setup a broadcast on mixlr but I can't seem to get it to work. My question first is, does anyone else use CrossDJ controlled with U-Mix Control Pro to broadcast on mixlr successfully? The list of things I've tried is huge and would take far to long to list here in one go. If someone has had success though, I could at least try to copy their settings and go from there.

If ou can provide a screenshot of the mixlr backend (sound config page?) I am willing to help as much as I can. Never used that before though. First try: the channel where you sound is coming from (Master) should be "U-Mix Control Pro ASIO 1/2" or something comparable if your CrossDJ is configured as "Dual Stereo" and Master is set to "U-Mix Control Pro ASIO 1/2".

Let us know about your efforts!

Hi swazi,

mixlr (or other software) cant "listen" to the Cross outputs on software way directly. You have to connect your U-Mix Master Output channel to some of your U-Mix input channels. You can do this with a Stereo-Y cable then your are able to connect amp and the input to the same output. Or if you are using a external mixer with more than one Master ouput you could use this too.
Some example how to set up mixlr can you find here: http://support.mixlr.com/customer/portal/articles/326021-broadcast-from-serato-and-traktor-using-an-external-audio-interface

Thanks dudes. I tried both of your methods but sadly mixlr couldn't connect to the controller/soundcard/axio. It seems the controller won't let mixlr share the use.
I do have a couple of spare old mixers lying around and this is the way that I went with it. I just ran the aux out of the controller through another mixer and then used the master & rec outputs to connect to speakers and mic in on my laptop. This works but the mic in is extremely sensitive and I have to have the settings almost as low as they will go to avoid distortion.
Anyway, thanks for the suggestions.

You can try a software called "Jack". This is a virtual sound handling interface, which can distribute anything to anywhere.

This topic is all about that. Try it!

I currently use CrossDJ using the IDJ3 and mixlr. In mixlr you should be able to select a soundcard line in, speakers or "what u hear" selection when setting up the mixlr app. I use an external mixer for the IDJ3 so I can also play from cd or vinyl and feed the "tape out" to my PC line in. I'm also using SAM Broadcaster which is set for line in, so the same live mix goes to both streaming applications/encoders.

Hope this helps.
