[re-opened] Missing MIDI devices

Hi all,

all my MIDI devices are listed in Cross MIDI settings except my
Korg Zero 8 and Novation Remote SL Mk2 :(
They are installed correctlly and there are no problems with other software like Producer.
However the Zero 8 is available as Asio device and audio is also working. Could it be some iincompatibilities with Cross? I searched the forum about these devices but it seems there are no informations. Any ideas? :(

Best regards

Hi,

We don't have any of them, so i can't tell if they work or not.
However, if they aren't displayed in Cross, it would mean they aren't recognized as standard MIDI devices by the system, as Cross lists all the MIDI devices given by the system itself, without filtering...

Have you got more info about these controllers?

Have tried with a Novation Nocturn, and it works, despite the fact the Automap Software creates more virtual devices than needed...

For your Novation controller, did you try updating the Novation Automap software?

Hi sylMV,

thank you for trying to help me!
You are member of the development team so you i dont want to dispute your statements but why they are recognized by all other software i am using (also MixVibes Producer/DVS) if they are non standart MIDI devices?
Yes i use the recent Automap version.
The Automap´s virtual devices are all recognized by Cross.
To check if there are maybe too many MIDI devices on my system which Cross can not handle, i uninstalled all, without success.
The Korg Zero 8 is a digital Mixer and acts also as sound and MIDI interface and also causes no problem using other software. I am gonna make a full system backup and clean install this night, to be sure it is not system related. Do you have some other suggestion that i could try?
It would be not so critical to me if no fix is found because i am routing the Zero 8 and SL-MK2 to MidiYoke virtual devices anyway.

Hi,

you're welcome, i'm doing my best ;)

When i wrote it worked with the Nocturn, it was using the "Automap MIDI" device, not directly the Nocturn. Can't this work with the Remote SL?

I just ran DVS, and i have the same devices available than in Cross:
"Automap MIDI"
"Automap Properllerhead"
"Automap Properllerhead Mixer"
So i'm not sure there's any difference...at least, not on my computer...

Hi again,

sorry for my late reply. I was busy last week
but i have good news

Why I have not done what i had written
But i only deactivated my MidiYoke ports, so they still where shown in Cross. Now, after UNINSTALLING them the missing SL MK2 ports are available and also 2 of 3 Zero 8 ports (I used 4 MidiYoke ports before). Now it makes sense to me:
Cross somehow really does not show more then 8 MIDI devices and lists them alphabetically. So i edited the device description part inside the Automap driver inf file and put a "_" as first letter to get them listed as last in Cross´s alphabettical order. Now i can use the devices which i wanted to use with Cross and do not need to unistall anyone :D

I have the same problem with my UMCP2 and Cross RC 2.3.0
The U-Mix was shown in Audio but not in MIDI
device list. Also deleting some unused/offline device did not help.
I had to edit the Cross.settings file manually
and changed one VALUE name="midiControllerMapping" string
to "MixVibes U-Mix Control Pro 2"

Cheers

So Cross doesn't write the correct name into the settings in some cases ?
Interesting...

EDIT : if you destroy/delete the settings file does it also happen ?
I think of a corrupted file that have seen too many versions.

Hi Support,
sorry for my late reply
If i delete the Cross settings, Cross also only recognizes 8 installed MIDI devices (in alphabetical order).
If i uninstall some of them which are alphabetical before "U-Mix" then Cross recognize it without problems.

Ok, an issue from our side where the 'tab history' from the MIDI section still display not used/connected controler. This prevent you from seeing latest or newly added controler.

We'll look into this to enhance things...
