Well, that is absolutely the right setup ... what do you hear if you press cue on one channel? Have you got sound in your headphones? Weird... Master is not sending sound no matter what you are doing? Be aware to check the "Mix" poti and see what happens if you turn it!

Thanks
I can cue I think as the mix dial plays what ever deck i've highlighted with headphone icon when the dial is toward cue and then i can hear both A and B Decks when when i move the mix dial towards master. That's correct right?
Might it be a problem with the internal sound setting on my mac?

No Mac user and therefore just little knowledge, but I think you have to configure everything within Cross. To be sure: You've connected your master from the U-Mix Control Pro's outputs 1/2 to your PA/HiFi, right? If so, open both line faders within Cross and play two tracks. None of them is send out to your PA/Hifi ???

correct. really annoying. Headphones / cueing seems to be working fine but still nothing from speakers at all. How's the best way to get this sorted?
thanks

Can you try another programm to check if the outputs of the U-Mix Control Pro work? Also be sure, that the fader in the U-Mix Control Pro Volume Panel, which is in your task bar, is opened up!
