I generally find Cross 2 an awful lot more stable that I did previous versions. Have I ever mentioned my i-core sandybridge issues before...? But I'm not sure if it's the new version of Cross or the alternative ESI drivers I'm using. Either way, mixing is more fun now than it has been for me, ever!

Did my local pub gig last night and I kept a eye on my CPU usage. No real mixing, just fade in and fade out (Chart and Pop music ) With Cross 2.0.1 my CPU usage on track load has increased about 7-8% and just playing a track, it's increased by about 3-4% I'll keep a eye on it tonight when I''m at my bar gig in town. I'll be mixing and maybe chucking in a sample or a effect into the mix. That's when you get a true idea of how Cross 2.0.1 has effected CPU usage.

I'll be doing pretty much the same tonight, so we can compare notes tomorrow!

just saw something that might be intersting,, flexing Cross and noticed that going to expanded collection view ,relaxes the demand on cpu by half,,,using all samplers in loop and player on running tracks, internet on and all background services running,,cpu at 85% peaking at 100,,,ram at 65%....flip to expanded view and the cpu goes to 50% o kay,,,

Got one word for you Dan: VISTA u might find going to win 7 or even back to xp a lot less cpu usage in the background os, and less demand on graphic properties also Cheers

yes ,,realize that this set up has many inherent flaws,,vista, outdated /weaker processor, plus no optimazation,, ,,thats why this is realy not a complaint,, also the fact that using this for receration, not for djay work in the public domain,,,trying to get plans together to move up to 7 ,,(not realy thinking about 8 because its to new and favord towards touch screens..)had issues when moved up to vista ,because 50% of the programs i used where not compatiable and had to find alternative software,,not releshing going through that again,,,.. the ultimiate option would be to get a higher spec ,new laptop and use it just for audio software,, solves every issue,,

Dont think you would have many issues going to 7 from Vista...alot less than going from xp >vista or xp> 7 for sure. Alot of software and drivers that work for vista are also compatible with win7, and on my old ancient desktop, win7 runs so much faster on it than xp ever did! My second laptop (this toshiba i'm on now) had vista on it, and it just got so slow over time...Its a different computer with win7 running on it. Cheaper option than getting a new laptop for a temporary 'band aid' to fix up your old machine *Just to add i had a quick look on ebay, and i've just seen genuine OEM win7 pro still wrapped in plastic for around $11AU, including shipping! ! Cheers
