All files imported from a playlist are 'missing tracks'

Postby stephanvh on 12 Jan 2012, 22:45

1. I want to import my database from Producer 7.4 into Cross 1.7.1. I don't find how to do it. You can import '3rd party databases' but obviously no old MixVibes database. That's a real pitty !

2. I decide to put my PRODUCER-database into a PRODUCER-playlist and export it. Then, I try to import that playlist into Cross. All tracks are 'missing tracks'. I have to 'relocate' them one by one. Not very acceptable I think.

3. The reason is the following one : my name is Stéphan. The path where the files are located is 'C:\Users\Stéphan\Music'. In the 'Missing tracks Resolver' from Cross, I see everywhere 'C:\Users\St phan\Music'. Cross can't handle accents ???!!!??? At least not when importing playlists...

Please help me because I can't work with the software I just bought...

I dont understand either why you not just straight import your tracks into Cross.

the sorting will still be there, assuming your tracks are sorted on your hdd.

'C:\Users\St phan\Music'. Cross can't handle accents ???!!!??? At least not when importing playlists...

Surprised to read that! I need to check on my side, as Cross is made in France there are a lot of accents in french as there are a lot in german, spanish and more. If it's a bug on this version we would see it directly. When you converted your Producer database which mode did you used? The bug if bug must be in the converter files and not in Cross general use...

Hi erveryone, thanks for your seggestions and remarks. I try to answer to all of you :

"I dont understand either why you not just straight import your tracks into Cross."

Answer : Some tracks are several times on my hard disk (from several CD's), some tracks (ripped froms CD's) shouldn't be in the collection, ... I only want the tracks that were in my Producer 7.4 database.

Reanalysation is no option?

Answer : No, only 'Relocate' works, but I don't think this is a serious option with many thousands of tracks to relocate...

The bug if bug must be in the converter files and not in Cross general use...

Answer : It is very clear bug in Cross and has nothing to do with Producer 7.4. Just follow these steps :
1. I import file 'C:\Users\Stéphan\Music\60's\Kingsmen - Louie Louie.mp3' into the collection : OK, it works
2. I put this track into a new playlist called 'Test'.
3. I export this playlist into 'Test.m3u'. The file is perfect : 'C:\Users\Stéphan\Music\60's\Kingsmen - Louie Louie.mp3' is visible in Test.m3u when I read it with e.g. Notepad.
4. I delete the 'Test'-playlist in Cross.
5. I import the playlist 'Test.m3u' again.
6. It shows me Kingsmen - Louie Louie as 'missing track'. When I try to 'resolve all missing tracks', I see in the dialog
'C:\Users\St phan\Music\60's\Kingsmen - Louie Louie.mp3'.

So the 'é' is missing! Importing playlists doens't seem to work with accents. And I have dozens of playlists from Producer 7.4 that I want to import....

It doens't work in the filename neither. I just tested it.
When do you think you can solve the problem ?
(Until then I can't use the software -> back to Producer 7.4).

Need to wait for an update or relocate the faulty ones manually.

Filename with accents is handled without problems when importing from iTunes.
Did you mean from the explorer?

You are right. The 'accent' problem only exists when collecting songs via Windows Explorer. If you import from iTunes, everything works fine.
I've been setting up an iTunes 'database' the last weeks. I just had to change a lot of things. Until now, MixVibes Producer was my leading database. Now it is iTunes.
Thanks for the help.
