Cross 1.7.1 ID3Tag Ranking

Postby FlippAtSpace on 28 Dec 2011, 10:12

Hello again,

I am having some trouble with my id3tags in Cross 1.7.1
In the demo version 1.7 they were looking fine, but now the ranking is not show correct. There are just some tracks with 1 and 2 stars. The once with 2 stars are marked with 5 stars in the id3tag.

Is that an error in the new version 1.7.1 of Cross?

Thanks

Phil

Just made a little testing and it seems that importing songs destroys the ranking in the id3 tags.

Added and then changed tracks are tag as they should be.
When I then click on "reload tag" it destroyed again.

What kind of files? (mp3? wav? ect.)
Is tag writing enabled? (Check the preferences)

  not shure about the star ranking,(dont use) ,the recorded Cross files , when use info panel to edit properties such as album art ,album name , goes away when reload tag is applied,, also the bpm needs reanylising, and yes the preference to write to tag is checked :?: :?: saw a posting that 1.71 doesnt keep the album art,,not write to it,,maybe this goes with all edited info :?: :?:

If reload tag empty some fields it only means these fields are empty in the tag!

Either tag writing is disabled, or your mp3 files are stored in a read-only place, or your mp3 files are corrupted.

The issues Daniel is talking about are quite different:
- Artworks are not saved into tags anymore since Cross 1.6.x, that'll certainly be fixed later.
- ID3 tags only accept integer BPM values (without decimals), then if a BPM has been stored in the tag, it'll necessary be integer and obviously you loose your decimals.
- I can't remember about the album name/artist issue, but whatever.

Cheers,

I deinstalled 1.7.1 now and reinstalled 1.7.0 AND everything is fine.
Just clicked on reload tag and there they are. So this MUST be an error in version 1.7.1.3 and not my mp3s.

Ok, thanks for having tested this.
Then please describe exactly thesequence of actions leading to the issue so that we can reproduce it.

Thanks in advance,

OK I have one folder with maybe 30 subfolders that contains about 2000mp3 files. I marked those files with mediamonkey and give them their ranking. Then I imported this folder (with its subfolders) into Cross. I think (havn't tested) that all tracks that were marked with 5 stars in mediamonkey were shown in Cross with 2 stars. The one with 4 stars were shown with 1 star. All other tracks do not have any star in Cross, but they had in mediamonkey. Some tracks in mediamonkey were marked with 4,5 stars. I am not sure if this is a problem for Cross (I dont tested that also).

I hope you can understand what I have done so far. ;)

Thanx.

Indeed there's an issue. We're investigating.
Thanx for having spotted this!
