fader start of the controller

Postby Party V I B E S on 22 Oct 2011, 03:15

Is it right, that the FADER START of the controller is triggered via simple switches?
I think about creating a footswitch-board for starting channels handsfree so I can keep my hands on the faders and stuff. It would be nice if you can leave words about the control-logic of these connections.

Thanks a lot.

Yes, mixers that have a fader start output do this with a switch (or a static switch on some). Don't mistake with recent Pioneer mixers that have a "control" output, specially designed to interface with the brand's players.
So basically, you should be able to drive the fader start input with a simple switch, with some 10nf condenser in parrallel to avoid bounces.

Thanks for the idea with the 10nF. I completely forgot about this to avoid chatter, especially with longer wires.

I had mixers with faderstart in the early 90s in the radio studio. But I never used this personally. If you know the logic behind it (shut or opened switch or impulse switch) please give me a hint.

thanks for your help anyway!!!

@ steve: try to use Vfx Control in the wild and do cool things while differently mixing video and audio. It's just a help I want to try. If it's cool I will tell you and show you. the next client wants me to do a big show with video so I will keep you informed. ;-)

greetings from germany

Usually fader start switches are open when the fader is down, and closes when you rise it.
