Re: problem with recording

Hey
When you route it back to a computer to record and also to hear it over this computer a delay of like a second is not unusual. This is because the soundcard ad changer and the os and also transforming back to analog sound cause delays.

Regards
Christian

You should not listen to what you record in real time, because the recording process includes delay.
Better connect speakers and line input to your mixer (mixers usually have two outputs, so the Y adapter is not needed)

I am also having this same problem recording. I have only had Mixvibes for a week and if i am understaning this correctly i am so disappointed that Mixvibes will not record if i use my external mixer? I'm sure that can't be true and i have misunderstood!

I have connected from Rec on my mixer to lines 5 & 6 on the soundcard but it does not record the master mix.

I do not have a spare computer to record to or a line in on my current laptop (only the usual headphone sockets)

Is there any way i can record my mixes?

Shure you can record your mix, but nor from within Cross.

1: what soundcard do you have?
2: do you have a line-in on your PC?
3: do you have recording software?

Which audio interface? U46MK2? If so the Line 5&6 are OUTputs!

So you cant plug a Mic/Headset your PC?

then it´s not gonna work w/out an additional soundcard.
google "soundblaster" and get one with a line-in.

Hi
With U46MK2 and Audacity, you can record your mix using external mixer. Only if you use a MIDI controller, not timecoded cds or vinyls.
You should route this way :
U46Mk2 Outputs 1&2 -> mixer line input CH1
U46Mk2 Outputs 3&4 -> mixer line input CH2
Mixer main output -> amplifiers/speakers
Mixer record output -> U46Mk2 Inputs 1&2
In U46Mk2 control panel, you'll need to set input as line
And in Audacity, chose input from U46Mk2 1&2

If you use timecode control, there are no inputs left free on U46Mk2, so you'll need an additional soundcard (ie HERCULES Gamesurround Muse XL Pocket LT3 that costs only around 30€)

Not gonna work unless he compiles audacity from source and implies asio-capability.

There´s no way round the additional soundcard.

Yes i have MIC and headphone sockets on my laptop. I do not have a MIDI controller and i don't wish to buy any further equipment - this is a hobby these days!

I'm really annoyed and what a disappoitment - if i'd have known what a hassle recording was i would have brought a different package :(
