[EN][Cross] id3 tagging issues

Postby hemskoc on 21 Nov 2009, 22:45

Hi
having troubles with trying to edit tags in my collection.
*Some files when imported into a collection, you cannot edit the 'title' or 'artist' values in columns or even on the info tab(it just sometimes doesn't except the values i try to enter in), so you have to have whatever Cross reads the id tag as(which does not always appear to be correct in relation to the tags written outside Cross).
*Some files are read/analysed as 00 bpm, and allot of them do not allow the bpms to be manually tapped either (it shows a red value in the bpm box after 4-5 taps) i can type a bpm value into the column, but this would mean i have to 'manually' work it out.
* Im even having trouble writing into the 'genre' column. I tried to enter the word 'Breaks', 'breakbeat', and it would not let me! Only after putting in a space at the end???? eg> 'Breaks_' 'Break_beat' .

Be great to get rid of these bugs please.
Sorta makes it hard to manage my lists with these bugs.

Something similar happened to me in MV7 where the files would automatically be 140bpm when MV couldn't properly detect it.

Which version are you using? It works fine for me in the new beta version.

Hi there !

There have been weird tagging issues in the 1.2.5 (genres for instance). They've been fixed in the current beta version. Unfortunately the beta version is still 'beta'. You'll have to wait a bit more to get these fixes ...

Concerning the "untappable" tracks, you can change the BPM detection range in the preferences. The tempo tapper prevent from validating out-of-range bpms to avoid errors.

Hope this helps !

Cheers,
SylMV

Im on 1.2.5 Cross; like 99.9% of the people who bought the software. Does not work on this version.

Thanks for that information sylMV...
Will try and change the BPM range, but i seem to remember it being limited to ranges(ie 80-140bpm), not user definable to change the max or minimum rate by 5-10 bpms like on DVS...(75 instead of 80 -140bpm in this case).
More in set ranges which still may not help me in this case, as my other tunes in the collection are up around 130-140 ish.
Anyways will try and see if i can get a Tap reading changing the bpm ranges.
Is the new version RC or just at beta right now?
Cheers anyways

It's still beta, but from your beta signature you should be eligible to grab a copy.

Yea, I also have this problem, I'll put in a tag for an artist or title, and after I press enter, it just goes back to the same thing. Sometimes it'll allow me to put in one word of a two word artist, or two letters of a one word title.

Guess we have to wait for the next update.

What spec are those files ?
mp3 or other formats ?
if it is mp3 are they id3v1 or id3v2 ?
if it is id3v2 which version id3v2.3 ? .4 ? .5 ? .6 ?
Those files was tagged before but with what app ?

We need the maximum clues you can provide in order for us to reproduce and solve these issues.

Thank
