Helpful U46 tip for scratchers!

Postby phadedvision on 23 Oct 2008, 05:38

Many of us like to use loopers while we scratch, but not all of us have the samples we want to use.

Here's how to use a Flash looper and MixVibes at the same time!

1. Plug in U46
2. In Vista, right click on the volume icon in your taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'
3. Right click on U46MK2 (123456) (or whichever channel you want the audio to come out of.)
4. Start (or restart) your looper, and voila! MixVibes + your looper at the same time

TIPS:
+ The sound will come out only when your mixer is set to 'line'

+ XP users, you can achieve the same thing by going into the recording properties and select "Stereo Mix" or "Wave" to get the same effect

NOTE:
This guide is written based on my experiences, if it doesn't work for you, let me know and maybe I can help you. ;)

All a looper does is just play beat loops indefinitely. They are pretty popular in the online scratch community since virtually anybody can make one. Generally, the creators make their own beats, or do collaborations, or even use classic samples.

Here's a picture of a well known one, the Beat4Battle V4 looper.

All you have to do is click a button and scratch :)

DJ FA and Smox actually made a site dedicated to the upload/download of loopers, http://www.yourlooper.com There are a few .swf files which can be used on both Mac and PC, but the .exe files are only for PC (unless you're running Bootcamp, etc.)
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

And if I want to use Mixvibes and Ableton Live at the same time? Now I'm using 2 soundcarts (U46+Audiphile Firewire) or U46 and built-in Macbook's sound device...but it would be great to use only the U46.
