Not sure what you mean.
The setup is to use a parallel output of your main out. This analogue signal has to be send to your PC/mac or whatever recording device you use. In most situations using a USB sound card gives least risk of having issues with interference.
But basically any input can be used.
I usually try to use a separate recording laptop. By this you don't have to switch screens and can easily see what's happening as well as setup a headphone for the recording.
