I havent had mixvibes very long and tbh im still going through the problems and niggles.

But one i had was that i could import iTunes files but couldn't get a single file to play and i have a lot of music in iTunes that id like to use.

So i find that all my songs are converted into m4p files (which mixvibes doesn't support) by iTunes, every single one. when you rip a cd it converts them. Grrrr

so playing around with iTunes for ages i find a solution to my problem, there is away to get iTunes to convert the files back to mp3.
i have a PC so don't know how this works on a mac.

ok so

iTunes

top tab Edit / Preferences

Then in general theres Import settings

Click that then change Import Using to MP3 Encoder

I also then made a custom setting for 320kbps

Ok and Apply all of that


Now in iTunes if you right click a song , suddenly theres a create mp3 version
no option to convert before.
Now the crap bit, instead of making the file into mp3 it makes a duplicate, so you have 1 song in mp3 and m4p file.

The fastest way to delete all your m4p songs to save disk space is to go through your iTunes folders in explorer and in each one

right click

Sort By

To put all the mp3 files at the top, then you can delete the duplicates more easily from each folder.

and voila all the songs in iTunes should now work.

Ive only just sussed this and still am in the process of doing it all

oh but also iTunes can't find the selected songs now in mp3 format so you have to manually find each song. so probably better doing it an album at a time.

Or just having both file types.

But as said it wastes hard disk space and mixvibes imports them both.

or you could duplicate all the files in iTunes, imprt them all into mixvibes, then go through deleting the m4p files from mixvibes.

God i hate the way iTunes works sometimes

I love ipods but hate iTunes.

I've heard that you can sync your iPod with Winamp if you're tired of iTunes

just now found in mixvibes the file extension tab where you can select mp3's and just delete the m4p files if you wanted.

Ive found theres more files there than i thought in mp3 in iTunes.

just don't understand why some are in mp3 and some are in m4p, i know that ones purchased through iTunes can't be used too.

Its just wierd and messing with my head atm lol

iTunes have recently released a new format without DRM also claiming better sound quality but you'll have to pay 20p more per track, you can also convert existing downloads to this new format at a cost of 20p per track.

Now using iTunes solution.
I alwas Rip my CDs through Windows media player and store them in 'my music' as Mp3's, this allos you to use them on all music players.
Just click drag them into iTunes and only the filenames are stored there. iTunes will convert them to AAC when converting to ipod though unfortunatly.

Also bear in mind that converting audio files from .mp4 to .mp3 will cause a massive loss in audio quality. This process is called Transcoding, using a compressed file to create another compressed file is not a good idea, more so when it comes to using a DVS system, the loss of audio quality is especially noticeable during vinyl manipulation.

For an audiophile, the only acceptable transcodes are that of Lossless audio to a compressed format... for example, .WAV, .FLAC, CD-DA to .mp3, .mp4, .ogg... Etc.
