Finding Music

Postby KevMaverick on 17 Dec 2012, 03:17

Been thinking about this for some time, and decided to ask the questions.

Firstly, where do you guys go to hear and find new music?

Secondly, where do you go to get those great new tracks?

Being an old school DJ, playing mostly retro stuff, I do feel a little out-of-touch, but once in a while I get a gig where the audience want to listen to something new, something very cutting-edge, that is not even on the radio stations yet. ;)

Where do I look?

I have a platinum feel from Promo Only Pool which gives me a feel of all sort of audio and video every day.

I also use eMusic (been a member there for more than 10 years).

For 'research' it depends... but I have a LOT of different ways to review and find new music depending on the specifics. But that would be a REALLY long discussion. :D

I do try Youtube now and then, but the stupid, childish comments just make me angry!

I also use ZipDj and its great +1

For finding new stuff I like sites like earmilk. Gives you samples for new artists/genres to get an idea.

Also Pandora and Jango where you can put in an artist/song and find a whole wack of other ones out there that might not be mainstream yet but would be killer to drop at gigs.
