Hi everyone,

I'm a grad student in musicology at the University of Oxford, and am trying to do some research about US copyright law and sampling practices. I've recently read a little bit about DJs being hired by law firms and record company legal departments to scour new releases for unlicensed samples.

but there isn't nearly enough written about this, and I really want to find out more.

Has anyone here ever done this sort of work, or do you know of anyone who has? If so, please contact me! I will be forever in your debt.

Also, anyone who'd like to discuss personal experiences regarding copyright, or any of the moral/ethical arguments surrounding sampling and intellectual property, feel free to contact me as well.

I welcome PMs! Thanks
