there is no easy answer for that ??
its a out dated software /replaced by Cross with video capabilities ,, was a win os software only ,,of the many user posting on the forum during it life there was not set configuration that was fool proof ,, no if you want to use the controller ,,with Cross ,,seem more success with this set up ,but mainly on win systems since the hardware was set up for the os,,but i never played around with Vfx ,,so my words are not the final answer

Vfx software also likely has problems with current video codecs and resolutions.
You can use an older machine. You need max 4gb mem as only 64bit programs can use more.

Given the effort upgrade to Cross is definitely the best path to go. You can try Cross Free or Cross Demo to check it out.
