Video and Audio coupling Cross

Postby JaneDalton on 13 Jul 2014, 17:46

Wow - this is the first time I've had an afternoon to really explore the Video side and have to say I'm so impressed - had a lot of fun and only just started to learn the features in there.

One thing I'm struggling with though is, say I've got a video that's got poor quality audio, and I want to play my high quality audio file instead, I've got that working and both playing at the same time (and there's an option to link them together as a saved 'coupling').

But is there a way to adjust where the video starts with the audio file just as most are a little out of sync in their starting points ?

 kinda understand what you are asking for ,, havent played around with the vid section ,, and probly a better source of info in the vid section ,(kindly moving this to that section) one thing i found that you can record the mixture of vid and audio and save as a file ,, not exactly what you are asking for ,, but might work ,,with nullifing the audio section of the vid ,, playing and syncing it to the audio of better quality ,,not shure if this would be worth the effort ,,because with and differences between the two audio sections ,it will get bad/messed up/out of sync ..

check for better sources of info ,ie experienced user and the fourm postings ,, wish the manual was more feature updated

It is suggested before to have an option to tweak video start. I haven't tried but maybe editing cue and or initial beat might have the expected result. Not likely the best way in the end.

Tweaking video would also be helpful in environments where audio has less latency than vid to public screens

Audio dropouts? Increase audio 'buffer size' value.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

I'd say the only proper and guaranteed-to-work solution is to edit the file in a video editor, replace the audio track and edit the video timing. Which can mean a lot of work.

Thanks so very much for the info and ideas. I'll try the 'record them both together' idea. Thankfully it's not too many where the quality isn't too good.

best to try using a software desigined for such the outcome will be worth the effort ,,ie alberton is a better choice for eiting audio files than trying to use Cross that has been designed for live performances ,, i think there are some freeware avaible and the internet will supply any info on other software for use in this endevor

Please be also aware that the audio track of a video may differ somewhat from the audio tracks you have.
And I do not just mean the 'story' that is in some videos.

So you may replace one problem by an other. And it is really time consuming; before you have a proper new version you likely have spend a throughput time of 3-5 times the length of a video. And this is once you have the right settings and a fast rendering device...

Another thing to consider is to find a better source for videos...

I use Final Cut Pro
In FCP you can sync by audio wave
All you do is put the video with the bad audio ( 120 k) in the time line and put the good audio (320 k) in the time line ,at the top ,as another track in the time line....push the sync by audio wave , that will sync the video with bad audio with the good audio.....mute the bad audio out.... and rip it to mp4
