New here. :p
I decided to start playing some music again (at home) and bought 2 turntables.

I would like to know what I need to set up a DVS system and still be able to play vinyl.

What I have:

2 decks.
MacBook Pro early 2008 running OSX 10.9.4
speakers + amp

What I still need:

mixer
DVS system

The Xone 23C with internal soundcard looks nice and one of the cheapest solutions. First I thought I just needed to buy the Xone 23C + 2 timecode vinyls but if my research was done right the Mixvibes LE bundle which comes along with the Xone does not support DVS.

So, If i'm right I just need to buy the Mixvibes DVS package with timecode vinyl + the 23C and I'm ready to go?
Or am I forgetting something?

will answer this kinda backwards ,, the Cross DVS is what you need to get started ,, not shure about the additional hardware ,, the s c not familiar with also to say for shure ,, is your choice for the mixer for the sc or for both ,, you can set up a DVS system using a multi chanell sc with enuff inputs to run t c and a regular mixer ., looking for a link to the manual to get you the introduction to Cross and t c this might help till someone more familiar with the propsed hardware give a reply ,, ,,and welcome and do not forget to regerster your software on the fourm when you get it ,

I'm out of this scene like 10 years and haven't been following all this new stuff. Back in the days I had a Powerbook with Final Scratch 2.

Well, the mixer looks kinda nice + it has the built in SC.
It could be an all in one solution for 310 euro / 425 dollar (in belgium)

Another option is a Xone 23 (or other mixer) without SC and get an external SC but than the following question rises > which SC to get?

post a link from the xzone site ,, this will give a clear picture ,, the U-Mix cp2 i got was about that price with Cross DJ ,, if the mixer is MIDI compatable ,,meaning it can control the software then this is good ,,,,the manual will give a clearer picture ,, if not having a analog mixer is a plus if you can get the right mixer /MIDI controller for your set up ,, the sc is a plus when you have the inputs for time code ,, plus wires not running all over the place ,,

this is the time and place to get info before you spend your monie .

Problem solved, one of my friends still had a final scratch system which he didn't use anymore

What do I need to mix DVS with Allen & Heath Xone 23:C?
- a computer, Mac or PC
- 2 turntables
- 2 timecoded vinyls
- 2 RCA cables
- a Xone 23:C, that comes with Cross LE
- configure the DVS mode by connecting the harnesses, as shown in page 19 of the PDF user guide: http://www.allen-heath.com/ahproducts/xone-23c/#tab4

What's the difference between Cross LE and Cross?
Cross LE is the software you get automatically when you buy the Allen & Heath Xone 23:C.
Compared to Cross, Cross LE does not :
- have 4 players (but it does have 2 players + 2 samplers)
- allow for HID control
- allow for video output (=Mixvibes watermark on output, but you can still test the video feature)
- work with anything else than the Xone 23:C

By the look of it, the mixer has a internal ASIO sound card, so i guess all you would need is Cross DVS

Thanks a lot for the info, might try the mixvibes DVS later on. Still need to install everything in place perfectly.

By the look of it, Cross DVS is not needed, the LE should be enough, but this still needs to be confirmed / tested.
