It's lasted and served you well, Daniel.

But I guess it's time to move on.........Windows 8.1 here you come, pmsl!!!!!!

I'm using Windows 7 mate and sticking with it as long as I can. I haven't had any problems with it at all. Vista was a nightmare for me.

Most things that I have read about Windows 8 in terms of audio performance have been very positive (overall it seems like ableton runs faster on my desktop, though I haven't done anything too cpu intensive yet).

Though I agree that the new layout takes some getting used to!

MS announced '8.1 update 1' with desktop/startmenu getting back. If news-site is right it will be coming (Patch) Tuesday the 8th April.

In addition to Media Center you might want to install free VLC (videolan) as an additional program as backup/workaround. It plays about every vid/aud and has many tweaks (like sc routing).

Keyboard settings are in file in 'user profile' area folder has a recognizable name; if you have from the old, just copy.
