Cross 3 Stability

Postby Johnsmithdj on 12 Mar 2014, 07:34

Hey, I run a small mobile DJ'ing business in South Australia and am thinking about making the switch from Traktor to Cross 3 as I really like the free version (Especially its database management). My only concern is stability. I am using a 2012 i5 Macbook Air and will not be doing any video mixing. I was just hoping that someone who uses it professionally could vouch for its stability when compared to Traktor/Serato. I have no reason the think of it as unstable, I am only asking as it is not a very common software among DJ's here (Yet) so i haven't heard any opinions on it.

(I will be using it with a Numark 4trak and at other times CDJ's)

Thanks, John. :)

Using Cross since 2009, not a single crash or glitch happened live yet.

Only some video-features are giving a couple of people trouble, but I don't know if that's their PC or really Cross acting up...

Using it for almost 3 years now. Could only wish I transferred to digital DJing earlier. Also use it for other events where audio/spoken tracks are needed (theater, seminars, schools, weddings).

Still running with dual core, including video (latter not to the max). So your specs are very good when not using Vid.

As live backup I switched from CD to Cross DJ android with splitter cable (couple of €). Saves a flight cases which was rarely needed and when arriving it takes less than a minute to have live music (direct connect to one active speaker). Gives the host the feel you control the situation (and they are around less which usually is more efficient).

The backup usually is triggered by having power issues with the laptop (plug not in adapter, or in laptop) or by 'friendly' people who seem to have some issue with their balance and manage to disconnect usb cabling when their center of gravity is outside their footprint.

Thank you all for your replies. I would just like to say that I did end up buying Cross 3 and... Wow.

Fantastic file management, Fantastic beat-girding and so far very stable. I have used it professionally every weekend for the last month and wish I had switched earlier.

Thank you Mixvibes :)

I can vouch for Cross in the live environment, think I only ever had one crash and that was due to a corrupt track, but never had any issues while playing live. I even did a test by running full tracks in all the sample slots and two decks, without a hitch.

Sorry if I ever come across the wrong way,Its never intentionally intended, and I am Always approachable.

I do not use video at present so in my experience I only refer to mixing audio
