This indeed is a solution to get 'older' usb devices to work. Quite often the underlying issue is that devices were sold usb 2 compatible, while actually being usb 1.x.

Not all 3.0 drivers seem to support the 1.x

I've just experienced all the same problems as you guys (flicker of lights and no control) with my mac mini 2012 with USB 3, so I have plugged it into my small portable Belkin (x4) USB port extender-which must be USB 2.0, with the CrossDJ-LE 2.6.0 software and it seems to be working fine :)

Welcome and great you found the solution so quickly.

Somehow this nice phrasing made me remember an older product ... a 'small transportable videoprojector'... a 25kg beamer in a large suitcase.
Really great at that time... You nowadays can compare the projection quality with those beamers build in the edge of a tablet...

I think I spoke too soon...

I have watched a video on how to get your iTunes tracks working in the 'collections'. However, when I click analyse, nothing happens, and its shaded out when I 'right' click :(

It seems to work if I go directly to the hard drive and find my iTunes that way, but its an ugly and cumbersome way to retrieve tracks.

When I do it from the iTunes tab, I get a big red Cross next to the track? But I don't when I go direct to the hard drive using the tab.

Anyone have any suggestions?

You can't analyze your iTunes collection in Cross (DJ) you've got to import it into your collection and then analyze it.

I know it stinks but this is how it's done ;)

Thanks for the reply...

Sorry I should of said that this is still the case after I have 'add to collection tracks'.

Once its in my 'collection', I have a 'red Cross next to the track which stops me from analysing the track i.e. I click 'analyse' and nothing happens.

Haga is right. Problem is that Cross can't write data in iTunes, so it has to be in the collection first.

'import' can be done by drag and drop (e.g. all at once).

Might it be you're still at 3.3.10? Guess you have El Capitan as OSX???

If right after 'import' you've a red Cross it's more likely to be the known incompatibility (OSX not backwards compatible). The relocate function doesn't help in this case as the location of the tracks is pointing right....
3.3.11 has the fix for this.

Before (and after) this bug was known relocation indeed was(is) the normal solution.

I'm actually on the latest version of Mavericks OSX, and my version of CrossDJ LE is 2.6.0.

Can't you relocate the track ?

I've just tried locating the track manually and it does import and analyse as it should, but it was terribly difficult since it took me a while to locate the track as it was within a 'various artists' folder within lots of other folders.

I think I'll have to manually pull the tracks out of iTunes and put the tracks in a folder, then import them from another location i.e. 'files' as this is the only way I can get the tracks in so far.

Here is the red Cross image:
