Dear all Sorry if this is in the wrong place! After reluctantly selling my decks and most vinyl, I thought I'd buy a very cheap little piece of kit to mix on my PC. I'm having real trouble as I can't get the headphones output on the FirstMix i/o to do anything - the amp plays what's in the 'cue' and the headphones the same. I imagine this is a soundcard issue, thought the manual does say separate soundcard for master and cue inputs... Any help for what I am doing? Can always just send it back and get something better! Thanks lots!

Dear Daniel
Thanks a lot for your reply! How do I go about registering the software?
In terms of specs, I'm not great at finding out. It's an ASUS laptop, about 2 years old - intel Core 2 Duo, I think 4G Ram... Not great, but the Cross DJ program seems to work fine. I'm using the headphone out for headphones and a red/white RCA phono to 3.5 m jack out to a set of speakers with an amp (sort of big laptop speakers). Currently the Master plays through the headphones and the cue plays through the speaker, and the crossfader doesn't seem to switch...
I'm going to have a little play with it this afternoon! Let me know how to register, then any further help would be much appreciated!
Cheers
Tom

Hi there
Right, I've registered! I'm afraid I don't know much about the soundcard, but I suspect that's the problem. I actually have a NEW problem now (!) - I can get the headphones to play separately from the master, by switching the 1/2 and 3/4 inputs on the audio settings, so cueing/beatmatching is fine. However, one of the tracks is tinny and distorted. If I change it to 'Mono' on the Audio properties it sounds fine (bass, no distortion) but as soon as I change it to any of the two stereo settings (simple or dual) the sound quality goes crazy again...
Anyway, you have better things to do than listen to my incompetence, so no rush for a response, and thanks for all the help already!
