4 Deck view questions...

Postby deanobirko on 14 Oct 2013, 17:59

Is there anyway of making the 4 deck view take up less screen space?

It literally leaves about 2cm of space at the bottom to view your playlist/library etc.

Also, why is it so difficult to set up 2 decks and 2 timecodes on Cross? VirtualDJ works straight out of the box.

As much as I like Cross, im frustrated by how complicated the setup process takes to map my Control Pro 2.

I would like Mixvibes to create an official mapping for 4 decks, based on deck a-b vinyl controlled and c-d virtual decks, without me having to touch anything.

A couple of users have been helpful in getting some elements working but its still very amateur and ALL Led's etc should work out of the box.

Could you implement a preset for 4 decks in your Control Pro 2 Mapping so all I need to do is plug it in and play with 4 decks?

Did you try the Expanded Collection View (hit space with the default keyboard mapping)?

What's difficult, any detail maybe?

Once more, any detail maybe...?

You can ask for this (you'd, by the way, better post this in the "suggestion" section), but from what I know, there's for now no plan to do it.

Many guys here can do "professional" mappings. I know it can take some time, but get on asking for help, I'm pretty sure they'll help you reach your point.

Right now, no, we can't.

As a suggestion, could you make it so that the resolution of the program can be adjusted to enable more screen space. In 4 deck mode on my macbook, i get less than 2 lines of space to view the browser.

The decks are massive and take up a LOT of screen space.

Could you perhaps make the decks a little smaller in future updates or at least give the option to adjust screen resolution?

The decks aren't so big and are already optimized to take as little place as possible with all the features.
What part of them do you think could be reduced/removed?
Did you already hide locators ?

We'll never do this mistake again, sorry.

But,

I know it would mean a complete re-design but it would certainly help make some screen room...

Ive come from VDJ to Cross and like the stability Cross brings but I do miss a few things such as the 4-deck view.

If you compare Cross 4 deck to VDJ 4 Deck, you will see what I mean.

You can see how much larger the decks are in Cross and they take up too much space. (EDIT: On that screenshot there is much more space at the bottom!! On my Macbook pro there is about 1.5cm of space. Perhaps the option to change the resolution would be an ideal solution...) I cant even see the Info / analyse / preview buttons properly in mine....

It would also be nice if decks 3-4 were different colours so that you can differentiate easier at the top of the screen...

Lastly, while we are comparing, I miss the little pull-out side list you can have in VDJ so you can see your playlist and library at the same time. A small niggle though.
