DDJ-SX issues

Hi everyone! :)

I recently got myself a copy of Cross DJ to use with my Pioneer DDJ-SX.
So far it has not been working 100%.

I've done my best to follow the documentation for the mapping:

Setting up the DDJ-SX for Cross DJ: Enable/Turn on the IN button, the button does not light up for me so I don't know if it is on or not, I'm using the latest firmware.

In the documentation on page 2 it is then written:

Cross DJ Interace | Cue Monitor | Value1
Cross DJ Interace | Mix | Value0
Cross DJ Interace | Master Volume | Value1

I have searched everywhere in the software and I have no idea what this means or what I'm supposed to do. I wish the documentation could be more clear on what this is. I believe this could also be the reason why my headphones always plays out the master channel which for me is a big problem. On the DDJ-SX, the Master is a separate Cue for the headphones and it can be mixed with other cue channels using a knob. As I now always hear the master channel, the whole point of this is gone.

Other stuff with the MIDI setup which seems to be incomplete to me are buttons lighting up or not when they're not activated.

Of course all of this could relate to me preparing the DDJ-SX for Cross DJ wrong.

The Cue button for instance, normal behavior for any Pioneer gear I've used earlier is for the Cue button to always be lit once the cue point have been set. With DDJ-SX and Cross DJ in my own experience, the Cue button only lights up when I'm holding down/pushing the cue button.

Some might say this is nothing to care about but for me these kind of issues relate to how the gear gives me feedback about what's active or not.

Anyways, I hope someone could help me with my problems :-)

Thanks in advance for any help

Oh, Please, please, can you read the other forum here ... And read the documentation ...

gillies2001 wrote:HOW TO SET DDJ-SX TO GENERIC MIDI MODE (for non serato software)

1) Unplug DDJ-SX from computer and power unit OFF

2) Whilst holding SHIFT + PLAY/PAUSE on the LEFT deck turn the DDJ-SX ON and wait for lights to flash..(Now your in utility mode)

3) on the LEFT Deck press the keylock/Tempo Rest button so its lit up (this activates Generic MIDI Mode)

4) Now turn your unit off

5) Reconnect your controller and start Cross as normal

Note* remember that if you ever decided to use Serato (for some reason?) you will need to reverse this process and turn the keylock button back off otherwise slicer mode and roll wont work properly

Yes I've read this thread before I posted this topic and this still haven't helped me regarding the questions I've asked.

First of all following the documentation, I'm also supposed to switch on the IN button which does not switch on.

Also reading the documentation on page 2 I did not understand what the documentation was referring to as stated earlier in this thread.

OK,
Value 0 = Turn the knob on the interface (GUI) at the maximum on the left = 0
Value 1 = Turn the knob on the interface (GUI) at the maximum on the right = 1.

There are no problems.
You can easily program at your convenience, if you don't like the led's behavior. ;)

It is a peculiarity of Cross, leaving the choice to the users as they want. ;)

Thanks. This took care of my issue with the headphones constantly playing the master (mix).

As for the MIDI mapping, I have no knowledge of how to do that yet so in that case it's gonna take me a while.

After some quick reading, I do see that assigning functions to different knobs and buttons on the controller is easy enough. Still haven't found out about how to control the LEDs though.

When I look on the forum regarding MIDI mapping and I see people posting code which reminds me more of a programming language, I quickly fall off I'm afraid.
