I'm looking at a new laptop just for live DJing that has built in Beats audio from
www.casqueaudiofrance.com . However, the price is considerably higher than similar laptops with lower end audio. Does the higher quality make a difference on external speakers (not the laptop's) and if so is it worth the extra dollars?

Your money will be better spent on an external sound card (or indeed, controller) with all the necessary in/outputs.

Anything with "beats" on it or "dre" on it is a way to sell you a brand, not a quality item. Save your cash, and buy a quality sound card, cause that's where you want to spend the cash anyway.
I'll put it in other terms. I have NEVER seen anyone DJ off of the internal sound card of anything that said "Beats" on it. If it were a substantial increase in quality, or a high value, people would probably be using for an output. However, it's most likely crap.

It's just a gimmick to get more of your hard earned money out of you.

A bit of info from a Beats Audio owner...
The Beats Audio is great when listening to music through the internal speakers or headphones - it really does sound good, but nothing is as good for performance than an external sound card.
