Hi Fellow Mixvibians,
An inlaw of mine asked me to assist him with equipment to do a gig for a family members 21st Birthday. Like alot of fokes out there believe, he used the best brand cdj's (Pioneer CDJ 800) and best DJ software (Serato Scracth Live).
First problem that occurred (45 minutes before the gig) was that his one Pioneer cdj did not want to insert the timecoded Scracth Live cd. I offered to borrow my U-Mix Control Pro or American Audio Flex 100 Cdj's but he declined as he prefers Serato above anything else and only plays with his Pioneers. After struggling to get his cdj fixed, he opted for my entire American Audio Flex 100 system (CDJ's and Mixer) and used it with Scratch Live.
Everything went fine for a while as he bypassed Serato and played background music with normal audio cd's. After he started using Serato, all sorts of funny things happened. Serato couldnt pick up its own Timecoded cd, Serato had to be restarted several times- luckily the soundcard had a bypass function. Then Serato freezed, then the cdj's had to be restarted, then the laptop had to be rebooted. This took an entire 20 minutes.
Despite all of this, my inlaw cousin was still ademant to run Serato.
I must say, in my period of using Cross (since version 1.5 ) with MV Timecoded Cd's and/or U-Mix Control Pro, I never experienced these type of problems. It makes one wonder why there bypass function on the Serato sound card
Nonetheless, this just made me appreciate Cross more and more each day

. Just a pitty some folks dont want to think out of the box and respect Mixvibes for its innovation and stability
