I have had so much stress finding the right ram for my laptop and then making sure it doesn't cost an arm and a leg because of my tight budget!
Started with 3 gigs of ram total on my laptop, then i found a 4 gig stick so i have 6 gb of ram and will replace my last 2 gb stick with another 4 gb stick to have a total of 8 gb of ram.

How much ram is a really comfortable amount of ram to do mostly mixing with a little Video mixing as well? How much ram do you currently have and how do you like its performance??

What are your laptop specifications?

100% spot-on. I remember putting 6gb in my older windows xp laptop only to discover it maxed out a 4gb, because it was 32bit.
Also, often overlooked is the bus speed of your machine and ram rating. You gonna pay more for 1333mhz than for 800mhz, so if your machine is only running at 800 (or whatever) don't bother getting higher unless it's at a good price.

4gb/3gb, I must've got the numbers wrong, It was quite a long time ago. Btw did I read somewhere that MV is looking into making Cross 64 bit?

Actually....

32 bits operating systems are capable of addressing up to 4GB of RAM.

However, under Windows 32-bit operating systems you're actually limited to 3GB usable - even when you install more.

In short, there are differences between what various hardware and software will support and just because the hardware will support it, doesn't mean the OS will and vice versa.

Keep in mind this is mainly a Windows thing....

im running windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

lack of info ,,, i am thinking that win 7 /64 bit can use the ram and also the software has to be able to use it also ,, 64 bit on the way ,,,
