Hey all! Kristina here. I'm so interested in DJing. Still a newbie though BUT I'm so eager to learn. Can't help to ask you Pros these before my first gig event:

#1: Where do you guys go to hear, find & download the latest music?
#2: What music pool will you suggest for me to subscribe?

Appreciate your valuable tips and suggestions so drop them all in the comments. Thanks so much!

There are lots of places to get music....

And a lot depends on the types of music you play.

For example, if you are willing to invest a lot of time, DigiWaxx is a good source, but you have to listen to each track, provide feedback and then you can download it.

If you want lots of tracks, with most of them being top tracks, check out Promo Only Pool (what I use), but there are other services as well. RPM, TM Century's Prime Cuts, etc.

Side note: Promo Only Pool allows you to download both Apple Lossless and MP3. Apple Lossless isn't supported for playback in Cross - yet. ;) So if you go this way, get the MP3 versions.

There are lots of cheap pools but the quality tends to be lackluster at best. For example, much of the original video I got from VideoToolz/8th Wonder are flawed or have other issues. They play back 'ok' in all but the rarest of cases, but overall I'm frustrated in the quality.

Of course, you can also go a bit old school. I hit up pawn shops and used CD stores for stuff all the time. I've gotten some GREAT deals that way. :)

For my club music, I use beatport a lot, I've never tried any "record pool". Maybe I should check this out.

I've been subscribed to ZipDj since August 2012, let me tell they have all the latest releases and a variety of remixes at the same time. You can listen to a sample of the track prior to downloading and download it if you like or not.

Just lately I've been checking out lots of the bootleg remixes on Youtube. Some of them are awesome!

Thanks Sergio D. Your input really helps. Great to hear a good review about it as I am also thinking to subscribe. Are they offering some sort of free tour or try? Thanks

My pools are soundcloud. and artists i like only. no promo/top 40 songs on my sets anyway... just indie underground sh*t.
