Recording with Cross Pack in external mixer mode.

I've had some trouble recording my mixes in Cross and I've realised its because I'm using the external mixer option. I've tried running an rca aux adaptor through one of the outputs on my mixer and then the aux into my laptop (setting Cross to record via aux) but I still get no sound when I record.

What other options are there for recording my mixes? cheers

In the Preferences check the record tab, and make sure you choose AUX as a recording source, and also check the Aux level meter on the top of the screen in Cross that you are getting audio through.

I assume you are using ASIO4ALL, in that case chack in the ASIO driver panel, that your soundcard inputs are turned on.

In order to use the AUX record, you have to be running the input into a channel in the soundcard that you are using for output. It is possible to record in aux not using that method, but it would require making your internal soundcard an aggregate device with your external sound card.

If you have the output of your mixer plugged into the input of the soundcard you are using, then all you should have to do is select the channel of the soundcard that you want to record as the aux channel in Cross in the audio tab, and then check your levels on the level meter in the upper right corner.

Also, as DzsoniB mentioned, you also have to have AUX selected in the recording tab as the source to record.

yup this is exactly what I'm doing but every time I record there is no sound. could it be something to do with my laptops soundcard?

while its not recording on my laptop i have found a solution, running the aux through my PC soundcard and recording with audacity. No idea why its not working on my laptop however.

Hello i don't know if this would help you, since you cannot record from
Cross externally maybe you could try using this software AVS Audio
Recorder it's free i hope this help.

Well this is strange.

Do you have ASIO4All installed on your computer.
What soundcards do you use?
Can you send a screenshot of your Audio tab in the Preferences Menu?

We need to sort this out, because Audacity uses a pretty "morbid" way of storing audio, and not only it messes up most of the time, it eats a lot of your system performance, while Cross recorder works as it is not activated.

Stupid question: DO you know where can you find recorded audio?

I really want this sorted out!

I agree 100% with this. Try not use software to do things you can already do with MV. Just to elaborate on the previous posts. If using windows - use Asio4All and enable all your audio devices connected to your PC within Asio4all, then select Asio4all as your sound card within MV. If using a mac - create an aggregate device from within the "Audio/MIDI setup" & add all your audio devices. Select aggregate device as your soundcard within MV audio setup page. Also note that doing it this way you can still run the sound in through your PC's internal sound card.
