And Boom! goes the dynamite...

Well.... where do I start? (Go grab a drink... kick back and relax since this is going to basically be a 'dump' of stuff....)

I've been involved with computers since I was in high school (and that was in the 80's) and even taught electronics while I was in the US Army. I have a background of playing an instrument or two (woodwinds).

In the early 2000's I was looking at Serato but wanted ASIO drivers and MIDI support. After waiting for years, I left and went to Torq in September 2006 (and as a result was basically shunned by the Serato guys at Winter NAMM 2008 - go figure). Bought Torq and then installed it at a red light while I was on my way to help set up for a school event - and then rocked it all night at the club. I did a lot of testing with the product, and was asked to help Moderate the Torq forums shortly after Torq 1.0.2 came out and addressed some issues I had (they didn't want me talking smack as a moderator apparently). BTW, moderating is a thankless job, be nice to them. :)

I moderated the forum and even worked with M-Audio to define the moderator standards for their other support forums - despite my not being an employee (I was NEVER an employee of M-Audio no matter what the guys at Serato seem to think). I even helped moderate M-Audio's support forums for a while. I beta tested the Torq product for about 5 years as well... (I'm guessing it's ok to say that now.)

I'm a big fan of many of the features of Torq but realize that with the purchase of M-Audio by InMusic it's likely going to die off before too much longer - much like every other software product that InMusic has bought over the years (MixMeister for example). It's either do something quickly or watch it fade into obsolescence at this point.

I've done VJ'ing with motion.dive.tokyo (back when it was supported) and love the product but it's not supported on later releases of OS X (it requires Rosetta) or after Windows XP... so I'm hoping to see good things from the Cross Video Plugin. (And I won't be using VDJ after a REALLY bad experience with their reps at a show... - that's a topic for another time. ;) ).

I have most of the major DJ software packages and a variety of MIDI controllers but have been revitalizing my love of vinyl here lately and have even been mixing between 'real' vinyl and control vinyl here of late. I tend to use the product best suited to the job at hand as opposed to trying to force the product to fit the workflow.

I switched to Mac about 2 years ago after spending a lot of time on PC's... I was even a Microsoft Certified Trainer for about a decade and taught computer repair (A+ certification classes) and similar classes for longer than that. Currently work as a network admin and run a mobile DJ company. I've been working a lot on my performance aspects - and as a result ended up doing some acting along the way... (mostly extra work).

Anyway - basic run down on software:
Torq 2.0.3 (Mac/PC)/Traktor Pro 2.6 (Mac/PC)/Cross DJ 2.2.0 (Mac)/MixMeister Fusion 7.4 (Mac/PC)/motion.dive.tokyo/Pro Tools 10/CuBase LE/kJams Pro (for karaoke - LOVE this software)/dJay/MegaSeg/Maschine/Serato Intro/Mixed In Key/Mashup/QLab (Actually theatrical software but interesting and useful for somethings)

Anyway... I'm on the lookout for the next 'main' software for my use... and I'm seeing good things with Cross DJ so far. I probably need to work out a mapping for the Xponent and I'll be adding Cross and the Video plug in soon enough... :)

MIDI Controllers:
M-Audio Xponent/X-Session/Trigger Finger/Axiom 25/ProKeys 88/ Vestax Typhoon/Frontier Tranzport/Behringer DDM4000/and probably a few others...

Audio Interfaces:
M-Audio Conectiv (x2)/Xponent/Fast Track Ultra 8R/NRV-10 (x2)/Samson R24

Hardware:
Technics SL-1200's (Sold off the SLDZ's)/Tascam CD-DJ1's (x4)/Behringer VMX-1000/DDM-4000/Samson R24

Sound Reinforcement:
Fender PD-250 Deluxe/KRK Rokit 6Se monitors/Behringer B212A(x2)/B212D(x2)/B208D(x2)/ElectroVoice (EV) Zxa1 (x4)/Zxa1-Sub/Community MVLPS-18(x2)/Mac Alto 2.3 Amp

Not sure what else I have floating around... but this is what's left after I sold off a lot of the 'bigger' stuff... :) Still slimming down though... and can't wait for the new Behringer MIDI Controllers to hit the market. ;) Let's just say I've been eagerly following them for quite some time now...

Oh yea... I'm also a columnist for The Disc Jockey News. :) I try to stay busy... keeps me out of trouble.

Hope this hasn't bored you too much...
