Actually, Win8 is not so useful on PCs, only on tablets mostly... but this OS is to early.

Maybe something to convince the boss: What made MixVibes famous in the past? Listening to its users! I know, you are interested in market share and money (as stated in the linux thread, months ago) - this is the way a business works, I am not with stupid, but think of free minds and being the first one who delivers a professional (!) mixing programme on Linux (forget about mixxx, this is rubbish!).

Let's go offtopic, as this question seems solved, and talk about Microsoft. They think they can do something and everybody is following. For a lot of people, talking in percent I would suggest 60% to 70%, this is true, because they have no deeper knowledge and are happy if their bought PC is delivered with an OS which allows to go to Facebook and check mails.
But there are a lot of users like we are: technically interested, independent and with a free mind. Those guys are able to realize what Microsoft is doing: Going its own way without listening to the users. They think progamming for tablets is the best way because in the future everybody will have a tablet to use instead of a computer or laptop. Desktop machines and laptops will die, so does the "old" operating system and its usability. What if they are wrong? What if there are people who continue using machines as they were used to?
Asking me, Win8 is a fault which Win9 might correct. With Win9 they might introduce two versions: one for touchpads and one for desktop and PCs. On Linux the KDE project and Ubuntu did something similar: At the time when netbooks with their small resolution became popular they build to versions: one for netbooks, with big buttons to press and everything optimised for this resolution and the other one as the common version everybody was used to. Why the heck does not Microsoft behave this way? For a big company as they are this means just a little less variation regarding the GUI - that's it. And don't tell me that I can use the "old" desktop - I know that I can change to that, but why does the Metro GUI (which is not allowed to be called Metro - but who cares?!) start while booting windows? For sure, there will be autostart tweaks which will show the desktop after booting, but this is bullshit.
I could continue talking about this the whole day, coming up with arguments and things to talk about within minutes, but I think I told you what I think about it. If there will ever be a linux version of Cross I would be so thankful - you can't imagine!
Thanks for reading!
