New Monitor Earphones

So, on a shiny day Ben went into a Media Markt and walked directly to the Headphones section, and started matching brands, prices and whishes...

So firstly I choose a Ministry of Sound MOS001. It had an awsome cord, that was colied (essential for DJ use also), and the earpeaces were CNC-d aluminium.
9mm drivers, different ear-rubber thingys, 106db pressure, max input power 100mW, 16ohm impedance.
(note: I read a bunch of reviews after I got back from shopping, they said it has a rich bass... I ask: WHERE??? )

All sound great... the price was also nice (on the web it's 15€).

So I got it, tested it right away outside.
Results: My first result were not pleasing... I was searching for a little more bass, and there were some strange resonance on the high end, which a DnB listener must not allow... But it had a very rich sound.
I was not pleased...

So I ran back, paperwork etc, and I was in the store again, heading for the place where I saw a pair of Sennheiser Street II-s. After about 15mins of thinking, I chose that one. Was a little expensive but I Don't Care. For the refund, I had to pay approx 3€ extra.

So I went out to a quiet park nearby, and wonder happens: I found the Bass Ladies and Gentleman :) After running this through a couple different music types I gladly said... Ok, phone, let's test on the Notebook.

And well here I am, happy :)

I trust the brand in this low pricerange, because I have a HD201, cheap as hell, but I have it for 2 years, and I sucessfully broke an earpiece after the 1000th fall (loctite helped).
I also twisted and tore the wire and jack so harly overtime, the wire is still in one pice, and no sign of break...
I hope, that it's holding on, I stepped on them already (by accident) and nothing happened (pain in my uncovered foot don't count  ).

So I'm looking forward using it in many scenerios :)

Ben Out !

EDIT: It really dempens the noise from the outside... OMG, I feel deaf when I'm wearing them. I listened to them half the volume than my other headwearing ones.

Hey,

Good choose of the sennheiser headphones. For gigs I prefer in ears Today. A few weeks ago I performed a gig with a band / DJ it was nice and the crowed had much fun too. We switched between band and DJ on the fly and I got from the creator a in ear monitoring System to hear the main output.
After the party I took them and asked where I can get those and now I have some nice:
Shure SE215-CL

They are in ears and they get clear and good bass too and are good to get reduce audience voices to nearly 90%. When I use them I only hear the clubs loudspeakers only in background very silent. One positive aspect is that I don't need to turn up the volume of my headphones as loud as with my normal headphones so it will protect my ears to get no damage about to loud music ;).
They are very expensive but I would look on those ;)

Regards
Christian

Can't fault Sennheiser

They do produce quality Head/Earphones. Even there cheaper ranges are good.

I 100% agree with u, that is why I got in-ear.

I first saw in-ear used by Laidback Luke, at one of the DJ Sound Shows.

I love using headphones, not just at gigs, but for listening to music at home. :D

For home use I've got some Sony MDR-XD200's which have a beautiful sound, but unfortunately, they are just not good for gigs, because even though they sound awesome, they are a little fragile!

For gigs I use a pair of Numark HF125's - just about the cheapest thing you can get at £5.00, but they actually work very well! :D

I've been wanting to try some in-ear headphones for a while now, so I might just give those Sennheisers a try - they look very good value for money.

I have been using a pair of Sennheiser eH2200 for nearly 10 years and they are still loud and clear! (considering their price)
I'm an old timer and I used to love Koss also, what has happened to them ? I have not seen/ heard many around these days.
