Hey guys out there.

This is for those who like making your own stuff, or modding them.

I was thinking about bulding a MIDI controller of my own. The funny is that don't build a MIDI controller. Build an HID controller, and get a software to convert it to MIDI.
And if Cross will be able to handle HID (like Vfx does), you don't need to use conversion software.

To build a controller you can use this interface:

http://www.u-hid.com/home/overview_board.php

This can handle:
- Knobs
- Jogs
- buttons
- led outputs
- USB powered

My project in planning phase but this is cool.

Also if you want info xheck this site:

Have nice buildin' ;)

Great idea with HID -> MIDI (or not even converting it at all), it seems like a more affordable way to build a controller. While I'm partial towards the Livid Brain, I never actually considered the idea of using HID boards. Looks like I'll have to start another build.

Thanks for the info Dz!

So, plans getting together in my head for my new custom controler.

The donor will be this mixer (picture below), which I have, and don't really use, at least I can make a kick-ass controller out of it:)

Feature planned:
- 16 knobs ( 4 x 4 arrangement)
- Changeable crossfader
- 4 chanel faders
- As much buttons, as much I can fit there
- Unique graphical design on top
- Built in USB hub
- External power supply (optional)

I will have to drill, cut and all in all work with metal and plastic a lot.

I'm just making plans right now, I think It will be done till september or so
