what is a DJ with out music (youtube)

i have been flaged on 2 of the mixes i have up
i was going to add DJ chris roxstar a 20 year vet in djing but he keeps getting flaged . he quit music headz tv .


with out djs the music that we play as djs would not be known as it is now . what is your take on this ?

I would say "Welcome to the real world"! Have you read Beatport's "Terms and Conditions"? No? Here is the important part:

no Content may be transmitted, distributed, translated, publicly displayed, uploaded, published, recorded, retransmitted, rented, sold, distributed, digitized, marketed, reproduced, altered to make new works, performed, or compiled in any way

The Content is only for your personal, noncommercial use.

The sad issue is that DJ's, by posting their mixes, are actually promoting music. That's my opinion anyway.

For instance: You hear a great mix, with brilliant tracks, and you want to get a certain track for yourself - you head over to iTunes and actually buy it. Now there's a good chance that you might not have heard that track if a DJ hadn't included it in his mix - which equals 'no sale' and no royalties to the artist!

Let's also consider that the DJ, most likely, has already paid for the tracks and should be given the opportunity to use them, without the record companies imposing limitations.

It's a bit like a manufacturer selling you a car, and then telling you that you can't take it out on the road!

just curious as too why the mixes where flagged, have no experience with using youtube other than too look at vids of music i like,,occasonily look at a interesting video the only reason for something being flagged if you are making a profit from some body else work,,,, need more info too join the conversation

If the videos on Youtube contain copyright material they sometimes get 'pulled'. Some of them get the audio removed, leaving just the video content...

are the people that post on youtube making profit because you have the option of downloading all of the music put on youtube,if that the quality you want,,and how are the vides of the artist performing get there are the copyrights neggated when they get posted

i share that very view .
hip hop is where it is because of use djs though i dont do hip hop on my mixshows .

same with being in a record pool that which i was in and i plan to go back to . wouldn't you have the right to play the song out ?

If there's a way that anyone can make a profit from Youtube, then I can't see it!

Yes, people CAN download stuff if they know how, but the quality is never going to be good as it's video, rather than high quality sound.

I can't see an artist losing revenue from lower quality video content. If people like the tracks, they're going to either buy the track legally, or download it illegally, but those people will do that if it's on Youtube or not!

Youtube has got to take a more passive approach to the content posted on the site. I'm sure that they are just being a little bit too careful about the content on the site. And also, the record companies should take a little step back and not be so aggressive about the copyright laws. The time will come when they are so strict about the laws that their songs/videos won't get seen by anyone, because they'll be so scared that people will copy the material - it is so self-defeating! They need to realise that by being a little more open, they are going to reach a much larger audience.

As an extra point to this - I've just been doing some searching on Youtube. There are many record companies that post official videos on the site - aren't they worried about people copying the music? It is an easy thing to do, and their videos have very high quality sound - just the thing that people who rip off music love...

Also, there are many people posting their own cover versions of songs, and this is clearly in breach of copyright!

So why do DJ's, using just a few minutes of each song, get penalised?
