Hey,

Some information to hdds:
1. They don't want vibrations or any other movement when running!
2. Don't drop a HDD to fast on the ground also when powered off!
3. Every start stop decrease the lifetime of the HDD.
4. A HDD has a average lifetime of 100.000 hours do it could be that it will broken after a few month or runs more than 10 years without any problem. This depends on the quality of production and it differs from model to model and also company to company.

There are many factors why a HDD can crash and I can say I saw nearly all variations (working at a big it company at the dev)

So it is normal that a HDD will it work unlimited time and how long it works depends on how good is the quality and how you work with the HDD.

Regards
Christian
