What a fiasco I had on Friday!
I agreed to fill in for a friend at a social club that he does on weekends, but it turned out to be horrible! I'd already heard that it was not a nice place to work, but decided to find out for myself...
They didn't allow me to use my own laptop, running our belove Cross, so I had to use their system suing a very strange looking version of VirtualDJ - I couldn't recognise the the version.
It was set up to use an external mixer, but only the left deck was working, and here comes the fun part... as I tried to load and play a song in the right deck, which didn't work, the left deck then tried to sync everything to that deck...with disastrous results!!
So, using just the deck, and having to force every track to the right speed, I managed to finish the night! Nothing I did could get the software working properly.
You can already guess that I'll never be working there again!
The people were horrible too - kept saying that wouldn't play their songs - I played their requests all night! Good job that I've had this problem before and just ignored the nasty ones...

Well, I'm doing the music for a wake on Friday! They want oldies music and karaoke! I get all the best gigs! I'll do anything for money - if it's a christening and you're coming into the world, or a funeral and you're going out of the world - I'm your guy! 'The life of a mobile DJ is a very varied and interesting life' As a very old and wise DJ once said 'I am a musical nomad - wherever my music is needed, there shall I be. Thee shalt provide sustenance, refreshment and esteem to thy entertainer. Regale him with gifts of beer, food and coins, for he is your salvation when your folk, your tribe, your brethren need to get funky!' Sorry about that, but music IS my religion!

Hey,
I love mobile DJing to it is nice to work with different people of music styles and up to now I got never bad feedback.
I heard from your problem with vdj and can say it was v6 my friend is using this version and had this too. I saw it on a Party and was surprised the only way to run normal was to shut down the computer and restart really funny and not good at party. He used for reboot my dual cd player deck to get not 5 or 10 minutes without music. So the problem occurred not only on your system there. I saw and heard from different friend who use vdj that they had this problem too.
Regards Christian

Are you sure it was a legit copy and not a cracked one? I used VirtualDJ for about 2 years and never had this problem. To be honest I never really had a problem with that software. The only 2 things that let the software down was the Sound Quality and Timecodes. This is where Cross beats VirtualDJ hands down

It was a original installation (I know it because I bought it with my credit card for him) so I'm sure it was a original on the computer. I agree with you Jim the sound quality is not as high like from Cross. You can set the quality as high you want but it often sounds bad. Cross sounds on every song and every situation nice and warm. I had never any issues with Cross DJ but had heard from fiends about vdj they have some big problems maybe I get them to buy also a Cross license Regards Christian

Virtual DJ On the surface looks like and should be the best,But it is a nightmare in too many ways to list here in brief, all i can say is that it has the best cueing monitoring system on My Vestax Vci-400 and I thought Wow, then it just stopped Being reilable and working as it should/did in a consistant manor, a Good beat fx, Everything else Is not good, Timing aspect is awful even pitching old skool style is clumsey where I ride the pitch, no matter what ammount of pitch ajustemt i have setup, even just 8% each way, that says it all.
I have not Scratched the surface with Cross DJ yet, not even done a mix, only spent 20 mins here and their, but straight away i got a sturdy reassuring feeling in the mix allround testing out diffent mix scenario's,I feel Confidents in Cross no matter what movement/action i have to Make, Looping and i loose the Timing their after, its only a split second action to get the track in time again, As long as your finger is near the Sync after releasing a loop, any slight lag will be hard to pick up on i have found. Any hard to Beatgrid tracks can be worked with the pitch unlike traktor and virtual djs and the scanrio you mention with having to force track speed and auto syncing trouble, i found this a lot with Dupstep and drum n a bass as they can blend from the 60-180 bpm ranges, still early days for me with Cross, But I feel good about It.

And then Numark came, made Virtual Vinyl, and it took things in order But seriously only other companies VDJ platforms are good. the original is just have tha same bad stuff for years now. It was hard to get used to Cross, but it worth it
