Newbie to DVS - a little advice pls!

Hi all,

Decided over the weekend to buy DVS system. Have 2 x technics and 2 x Denon cds but would prefer to use vinyl feel (old school ;-)and dont want to hide my records away! )

Whats the difference between Mixvibes Ultimate and Cross?

I reckon Ultimate will do me just fine. How do the connections work, assuming decks into soundcar, where does my mixer plug into? Do my headphones stay connected to my mixer or into laptop?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Hey,

depends on what you want to work. MixVibes Ultimate is a bit older and now in the Version 7.4. It is only windows compactible and comes with the small u-Mix44 and should work fine with your setup.
Cross is the newest Edition from MixVibes. It is a multiplatform solution. Works on Mac and PC and looks identicaly. It comes in the Cross Pack with the U46MK2 which is a strong and powerfull card to get all you need to run Timecode Vinyl or CDs with it.

So both programs are for DVS (digital vinyl system) but they have their pro and Contra so I prefere you to install the DEMO and test it to see which variant is better for you.
Generell I prefer you to buy the Cross Pack. It is the newest Product from MixVibes at the categorie DVS and if you want to run it in the future on a MAC no problem will work. The second + for the Cross Pack is the powerfull U46MK2 Soundcard.

But which you want to buy is your choise and both will work well.

You connect the turntables to the soundcard, the Soundcard output to the mixer and run the software. The Headphone is than connected to mixer.

When you install a AAC decoder you will be able to play the iTunes bought files with MixVibes Ultimate.
Cross has an native integration and you can open the iTunes library directly in Cross.

Welcome to MixVibes :)

One more thing for choosing Cross:

It a strong platform, and new features will come to it, in the near future.
Lately a bunch of new features were aded an many updates a year.
And as Said it is also for MAC.

But it's still your choice :)

But whatever you choose, you get the most important: QUALITY!

Hey,

yes you can in both programs enable Bypass so you can run normal vinyl.

I don't know the prices for both products but keep in mind that you need a good soundcard to run DVS.

Cross is the newest product from MixVibes and is current most updated because DVS Ultimate has much functions and works quite well.
Cross become more and more functinos with every update. We will see what 2012 brings us but it is planed to implement a Sampler in Cross.
So both got updates but current the main work is at Cross and the other product range like Vfx.
The next point you should keep in mind is that the soundcard at the Cross Pack is a bit better than the soundcard which comes with the DVS Ultimate PACK.
