Amateur, Professional, or just an enthusiast?

I've got interested in this forum, and the people on here, and I'm really curious about everyone.

I'd be very interested to know just what people are up to, and what they use their software for. Or am I just being nosy? :D

Personally, I would call myself a semi-pro. I do a regular gig every week on Tuesdays, which is a karaoke night. I hate karaoke! I get the same people, singing the same songs, every time!

Luckily, I also get the occasional party, which makes my life worthwhile - I'm a full-on party DJ and proud of it! The sillier (drunker) the crowd get, the more fun it is for me.

So that's me. Now tell me about yourselves and what you do... ;)

I'm in the same situation myself Daniel - the music never leaves you!

Seeing people enjoy themselves because of the music I play makes me happier than almost anything else in the world. :D

I would call myself Semi.

I work during the week and have a couple of gigs at the weekned.

I DJ at a Bar in town on a Friday night (2100-0100) where I play all the Commercial stuff. Sometimes we have Birthdays parties in and I take requests.

Saturday night I have a club gig (2230-0300) where I play House and Dance

I used to do both nights at the club but the management wanted a lot more urban music, Hip Hop, R'n'B, Dubstep, etc on Friday nights. I don't enjoy playing that stuff so I gave it up and got the bar gig instead ;)

Started in 1999 with two turntables and a mixer spinning Trance, switched from analog to digital in 2003 with Ableton and got stuck after another change to Vinyl at Mixvibes DVS 7. Now playing with Cross all the way while I have started again to collect records since some weeks.
I would not call myself an amateur but no professional, something in between. I have been playing in a lot of german clubs and also in Paris, but not every weekend - so professional would be too much imho. I love playing music and being creative - that's it. Electronic music is a passion and a lifestyle for me.

Cheers,

Steve
