Some ramblings from me...

Haven't posted on the forums for a while so thought I'd let you know what I've been up to.
Finally managed to get a new laptop (although it's a work in progress!). I picked up a refurbished Acer Aspire 5738G (Intel T6400 2.0 GHz, 3 GB DDR3, 320 GB HDD, 512 MB GeForce G105M, 15.6" screen, and despite being sold as having no O/S, Vista!) in pretty much as new condition for a bargain price, and I'm now looking to tweak that a bit so it's running Windows 7 and packing 8 GB RAM (DDR3 is so cheap at the moment it's unbelievable!).
Played my first gig for ages at the start of August and I'm happy to say that I ran Cross DJ and my U-Mix Control Pro on my old P4 laptop for 8 hours without so much as a dropout! Granted, I was playing what I'd call "party music" (Top 40, 80's, 90's and a bit of Commercial Dance stuff), so there wasn't much to tax the software, but I was still impressed. For those of you who might wonder what exactly I was doing playing for 8 hours, I provided the music for a 5 a side football tournament organised by my friend as a fundraiser for our rugby club tour next year - I set up a couple of playlists for the duration of the tournament as background music whilst the spectators (and players) were watching the games and/or having a drink pitchside, then actually DJ'ed for about 4 hours once the football had finished. I had a blast, so did the people who'd come to watch/play, and we raised a fair bit of money too!
