A Blast from the Past!

Hi Guys,

Haven't been on here for absolutely ages, so thought I'd re-introduce myself for those of you who may remember me, and introduce myself to those who don't.

I'm CJB and I've been using Mixvibes since DVS was launched back in 2004.

I've recently noticed the U-Mix Control Pro and am looking forward to buying one (as soon as my funds allow it!) and getting involved in the foums again.

Hope I can be of some use round here - it's good to be back!

CJB

Hey,

glad you have rejoined the forums - it is always a please to have old and new users around here. Using mixvibes software since 2004 what can you say about it regarding the use of it since ages? Are you using it often at your gigs?

Cheers,

Steve

Good choice. Cross and CrossDJ (CrossDJ comes with the U-Mix Control Pro) are the dogs boll**ks :)

Thanks for the replies guys!

@ Blackbrook - talking about Mixvibes since I started using it is probably a new topic in itself! When DVS was released I saw it as an affordable alternative to the likes of Final Scratch, which at that point in time I couldn't afford. It was something new and different, and I was immediately impressed by it.

I'm not playing out at the moment, and DJ'ing is mostly a hobby for me, but I've used Mixvibes both at home and gigging (including a previous residency), and always found it to be extremely stable. I can't remember it ever crashing in a gig, and I've had very few issues with any version I've used.

Feature wise, DVS and Producer have always fitted my needs, although I did feel Producer got a bit cluttered interface wise at times.

However (and this relates to the point Jim B made as well), having used the Cross demo, I think it's pretty much the perfect evolution of Mixvibes. It's got a great feature set for my needs (I don't need 4 decks, loads of effects, etc), the interface and layout is clear and intuitive, and the browser/media management is spot on. Like the original DVS, I find it allows me to concentrate on mixing my music as I know where everything is, and it's not overly complicated. I think it'll allow me to pick up and play (there's no need to beat grid everything beforehand like other software), and as a bonus, it seems to run perfectly well on my 9 year old P4 2.4 GHz laptop!

I'm thinking of doing a review of the U-Mix Control Pro & Cross DJ when I get them, so I'll cover everything in a bit more detail then.
