RME Hdsp and Hercules 16/12 - old stuff or still quality?

Hi everybody!
I was wondering whether those two soundcards are still in use by a lot of mixvibes users...
I used both for a while and later switched to an Audio 8, as I started to work with Traktor. Now I'm considering to set up a second timecode system with Mixvibes again (I might sell Traktor). For this system I need an affordable quality soundcard.
I remember my Hercules, but especially my RME Hdsp, in the same league compared to the Audio 8. The RME's sound was even better, I believe. I assume both cards still working nicely with Cross, right?
Too bad the Hdsp needs PCMCIA / Expresscard => no mac-support...
Also I have a U46DJ, but I guess it's not in the same league compared to a RME interface...
Anyways, what do you think?
