Guys, I've just finished installing Microsoft Security Essentials Anti-virus on all 3 of my home computers (2 PC's and 1Netbook) and to be honest I quite pleased with it. The anti-virus seems like it's not a CPU hog like some other anti-virus' I can mention Now, I'm in a Dilemma. Although I very rarely go online with my gig laptop, (I only online to get updates for my OS). I'm thinking of installing Microsoft Security Essentials on my gig laptop too. For the added protection when I do go online I know I can always manually turn the anti-virus on and off on the start up tab of msconfig before I DJ ( this can be a bit of a ball ache though ), but do any of you guys DJ with AV on and have positive results?

Hey,
I'm not using the Microsoft solution but I also have installed a anti-virus software on my Music Laptop. I use Kaspersky and there you can deactivate and activate the program with one klick. I say in the taskbar to my program shut down every action -> then a window is apperaring where stands: How long? -> there you can say for 1 minute or 2 or 5 or 15 or 30 and so on. And on the last entry there is to the next start-up of the PC. I have enough RAM so I don't need to exit the hole program but if someone need the 100MB of the program too you can also say -> stop working and exit the program.
On my last gig I missed to deactivate it and I had no problems with my notebook (2,4GHz i5 with 4GB Ram). Everything works normal with no issues. But If the virus-scan is active you can stop working with DVS ;-)^^

Good choice on MSE! I leave mine on all the time, and it's never interfered with my performances.
same for me

i would not recommend the anti virus solution from MS but however. I can recommend free-av from avira. I dont disable the av when playing with Cross and have no issues.

Hey,
The MS variant of anti-virus software works better than nothing. I know that the virus database intervals are not the same like GData or Kaspersky but it works. I tested it with diverent pages where I know there are viruses and so on and the ms software detects them.

Delete if possible, if not move to vault/carantine Cheers, Steve Btw.: I do not work with an anti virus programme on my music laptop, I am just visiting the Microsoft update servers and those should be free of viruses, not?
